Abstract
This article addresses the documentation, annotation, analysis, and transmission of dance through digital media. It focuses on projects such as Synchronous Objects for One Flat Thing, reproduced (2009), Motion Bank (2010–2013), and the Choreographic Coding Lab—initiated by William Forsythe and collaborators. These projects bring together interdisciplinary teams, explore the complexity of embodied knowledge in choreography, and develop a new form of dance literature. This new approach to digital dance archives informs the concept and practice I am developing with the “body-archive”.
