Resumo
Objetivo: Neste artigo, oferecemos um panorama geral da pesquisa de gênero no esporte como um todo, naqueles especificamente entendidos como masculinos, e nas artes marciais e esportes de combate (MACS, em inglês), até refinar nosso escopo e focar especificamente no karatê. Metodologia: A seleção olímpica espanhola feminina de karatê foi por nós pesquisada justamente no momento em que esta MACS alcançou a condição temporária de esporte olímpico, em Tóquio 2020 (2021). Resultados e discussão: Procuramos fornecer uma perspectiva crítica sobre como as práticas de karatê e as intervenções profissionais exigem ação transformadora para se tornarem mais uma ferramenta/lugar de capacitação do que um lugar onde o poder é exercido injustamente sobre os outros com a desculpa das hierarquias e da tradição. Conclusão: Concluímos o artigo visualizando e sugerindo algumas ações que poderiam contribuir para melhorar o karatê e os ambientes das MACS em geral na direção de espaços e pedagogia mais equitativos, diversos e inclusivos por meio de ações disruptivas (queering).
