Abstract
This paper aims to present the hybrid artistic matrices and the circulation of images from different traditions materialized in the work of Emmanuel Nassar (b. 1949), especially in the series Trapioca, made in 2021. It intends to reflect on how notions of modernity can be read in complexes peripheral panoramas, as in Brazil and the Amazon, establishing visual and aesthetic systems that mix foreign operations and images with local characteristics and principles. This reflection is motivated by the insurgent historiographical review of the impacts of modernism on the art scene in Brazil and on the heterogeneity of Brazilian production, especially outside the main discussion centers already established.
