TRANSCODIFICAÇÃO LINGÜÍSTICA OU TRANSFERÊNCIA CULTURAL? UMA CRÍTICA DA TEORIA DA TRADUÇÃO NA ALEMANHA
ResumoThis paper presents an overview of the two main approaches in translation that have developed in Germany since the war: the linguistically oriented Übersetzungswissenschaft, represented by theorists of the Leipzig School, such as Wills and Koller; and the culturally oriented approach of scholars such as Vermeer. An alternative concept is outlined for an integrated approach to translation, where possible linking the German theories to what has developed in English as translation studies, and especially linking the field of literary translation theory to relevant approaches in linguistics.
