Resumo
O objetivo deste artigo é aproximar analiticamente duas literaturas que geralmente caminharam apartadas: a de movimentos sociais e a de partidos políticos. Propomos um debate sobre os processos de formação de identidade coletiva e de identidade partidária junto com elementos que definem a escolha de estratégia dos movimentos sociais e dos partidos políticos. Argumentamos que questões de identidade e de estratégia terão peso importante para estabelecer as interações entre movimentos sociais e partidos políticos e que tais interações podem ocorrer a partir da intermediação de lideranças sociopartidárias influentes tanto no campo social quanto no partidário. A discussão teórica foi desenvolvida com base em estudo de caso que observou a articulação de líderes do movimento ambientalista com partidos políticos, especialmente com o Partido dos Trabalhadores, desde a década de 1980 até o processo de formação da Rede Sustentabilidade. A intermediação da líder Marina Silva entre mundo social e mundo partidário foi fundamental para que lideranças do movimento ambientalista adentrassem os partidos políticos e suas arenas: legislativa, governamental e eleitoral. Concluímos que a relação prévia do movimento ambientalista com o Partido dos Trabalhadores foi crucial para a decisão de ambientalistas se engajarem na formação de um novo partido, a Rede Sustentabilidade.
