Resumo

Quais são os constragimentos à influência da opinião pública dos Estados Unidos, no sentido de definir a política externa para a América Latina? A opinião pública latino-americana pode moldar a política externa dos Estados Unidos? Este artigo apresenta os refereciais de opinião americanos, e indica os graus de interesse na América Latina desde o final dos anos 30.  

Abstract

Which are the constraints upon the influence of public opinion in the United States in order to set Latin American foreign policy? Can the Latin American opinion shape United States foreign policy? This article presents the public opinion referents available to United States policymakers, and indicates the degrees of interest in Latin America since the late thirties.
