No século XVII, a revolução científica desperta um inusitado entusiasmo pela ciência e o método experimental. Multiplicamse os cursos teórico-práticos sobre as novas ciências e as mulheres participam ativamente desse movimento dando importantes contribuições. São, porém, relegadas a posições secundárias e sua produção permanece muitas vezes ignorada ou obliterada. Neste artigo damos relevância ao fato de a revolução científica e a “caça às bruxas” serem concomitantes e examinamos a relação da mulher com o saber.
Abstract
In the seventeenth century the scientific revolution generated an unusual enthusiasm for science and the experimental method. Theoretical and practical lectures on the new sciences proliferated. Women participated actively in this endeavour making important contributions. However, they were relegated to secondary positions and their work remained unknown or obliterated. In this article the concomitance between the scientific revolution and witch-hunting is emphasized, and the relation between woman and knowledge is considered.
