Este artigo avalia o impacto das tecnologias de produção sobre as divisões sexuais na esfera do trabalho pago. A análise centra-se na observação de como essas mesmas divisões, e as relações de gênero no local do trabalho, afetam a direção e o ritmo das mudanças tecnológicas. O argumento principal é que as tecnologias são moldadas a partir de relações sociais específicas, incluindo aqueles referentes a gênero.
Abstract
This article assesses the impact of production technologies on sexual divisions in the sphere of paid work. It then looks at the extent to which these divisions, and gender relations in the workplace, themselves profoundly affect the direction and pace of technological change. The main argument is that technologies are shaped by particular social relations, including those of gender.
