The translation of Angela Davis' thinking into Brazil: : for a history of the intersectional origins of feminism

Abstract

Angela Davis is one of the most important contemporary feminists. Her powerful history of political struggle embodied a generation of demands for humanity, equality and freedom not only for the black people, but for all the oppressed parts of society. The meaning of his reflections combined theory and practice, like no one else, in a reading of history, society and politics, which were and still are fundamentally connected with a new becoming, a profound transformation of reality and, therefore, his thinking enters in the list of critical theories, of thought produced from subordination and of profound value for another possible world.
