Abstract

In a careful translation by Elisabete M. de Sousa, A vindication of women's rights, consecrated by Mary Wollstonecraft, is made available to the public, in full, in Portuguese. The work, published in 1792 and considered a classic in the field of gender studies, feminism and the struggle for equality between the sexes, portrays, in a macro perspective, the economic, social and political situation of women in 18th century Europe. A meso analysis of its mechanisms of struggle to change this condition is complemented with a micro analysis of the real impact of the French Revolution (1789-1799) 2 in this whole process.
