Resumo
O presente artigo discute os fatores subjacentes ao atual problema de desemprego enfrentado pelos principais países industriais da economia mundial. O autor destaca as mudanças no contexto financeiro internacional como um dos principais aspectos da questão, por instaurarem um clima deflacionário nas políticas macroeconômicas dos países do G7. Por último, o texto aponta algumas das possibilidades e dificuldades para implementação de políticas de pleno emprego no âmbito do G7, da União Européia e do Reino Unido
Abstract
This paper discusses the roots of the problem with unemployment which currently assaults all the major industrial countries. The author stresses the roots of the problem in developments in the international trading and financial system since 1973. Finally, the text highlights some of the possibilities and difficulties to an implementation of full employment policies at the levels of G7, European Union and United Kingdom.
