Resumo

O presente trabalho analisa os efeitos das dinâmicas financeiras em curso sobre os problemas defrontados pelos formuladores das políticas dos bancos centrais. Examina seus efeitos sobre a determinação das taxas de juros e de câmbio e evidencia como as transformações financeiras contemporâneas estão causando dificuldades fundamentais para os atuais métodos de regulação.

Abstract

This paper analyses the effect of current financial dynamics on the problems for Central Bank policymaking. The author reviews these, starting with domestic monetary policy; passes by exchange rate determination, and concludes with regulation, where the current structural developments are causing fundamental difficulties for present regulatory methods.
