Abstract
Some of the most relevant attempts to update the Marxist conception of subjectivity came in the form of syntheses or dialogues between Marx's work and psychoanalysis. From the efforts Fenichel and Siegfried Bernfeld, passing through the first Wilhelm Reich, by Max Horkheimer and Theodor Adornment, and coming to contemporary names like those of Gayle Rubin and Slavoj Žižek, we have a whole tradition of authors today that - Marxists or strongly related to this current of thought - that understanding the unconscious would be a fundamental step for the continuation of materialist criticism inaugurated by Marx.
