Resumen

Desde el inicio del proceso de transformación democrática de Europa del Este en la década de 1990, los gobiernos, las organizaciones internacionales y la sociedad civil han prestado cada vez más atención a la situación de los Roma en Europa. Este grupo de población, que emigró de Asia a Europa hace siglos y durante mucho tiempo vivió como nómada, vive ahora en varios países del continente europeo y en otras partes del mundo como grupo postmigrante. En el contexto del acercamiento a la Unión Europea, varios países han analizado la situación de los Roma y han intentado mejorar sus condiciones de vida, a menudo precarias. Este artículo analiza la situación socioeconómica de los Roma en Rumanía desde el final de la Guerra Fría. Con la ayuda de una revisión bibliográfica, se analiza la situación de los Roma, con especial atención a la educación, el trabajo, la vivienda y la atención sanitaria.
