Abstract

The present study was conducted in the city of Aguascalientes, Mexico, whose society is constituted mainly by young people, however, in recent years, the City has gradually been in a demographic transformation from youth to old age, this process necessarily impact on several factors in the development and functioning of society, and not only on welfare of the elderly but younger groups, so it is necessary to turn the look into this sector of the population and address the close environment in which its activities are carried out, housing. The research approaches the study of housing from the point of view of their habitation and changing their lifestyle aging product because with the passage of time, the activities that older adults in the different areas that make up the housing have changed or have incorporated new and this should be considered. At present an issue that has particularly problematized development activities of older adults is that the physical conditions of the housing they occupy do not guarantee the functionality, security and tranquility of these. The results of this investigation provide design guidelines allow them to approach the needs of older adults considering their activities, new capacities, attachment to the house, but especially his experience, which can be of great value in construction of new housing for habitation by people over 60, or the modification of existing and inhabited by them. Improve the way of life of older adults not only has to do with the use of appropriate furniture in the house, or the size or space efficient qualities or proper distribution thereof; has more to do with understanding his way of life and understand their new capacities and accordingly propose designs or modifications to housing that adapt to their new status.
