Historical farms of the region of Limeira [SP]: recognition and valuation of the cultural landscapes

Abstract

This article shows part of the results of research developed to attainment of the heading of Master in the Civil Engineering at the Faculty of “Civil Engineering, Architecture and Urbanism”, State University of Campinas – Unicamp – with the objective to identify the cultural heritage of seven historical farms, located in the region of Limeira [SP], formed in the XIXth century. This seven “Historical Farms” composes the tourism program of the Municipal City Hall of Limeira. A comparative analysis between these properties, using maps, photos and surveys of field was become fullfilled, that had allowed to identify the rural architecture and the agricultural processes. It was become fullfilled, also, an analysis between applied forms of inventory which contributed for the inventory of the set of real properties of the territory of these farms. With the inventory and catalogue of the built heritage, it was possible to relate the farms through its cultural context, searching a reflection about these properties to recognize the occured agrarian transformations in these lands, which had provided the development of the process of daily industrialization of the region. The recognition of these “scenes” is important to preservation of “cultural landscapes” directed toward the ecological tourism.
