Resumo
Este artigo analisa a contribuição de Larry Laudan para a superação da “herança positivista” na Filosofia da Ciência. Aderindo ao enfoque histórico iniciado por Thomas Kuhn, Laudan defende que a solução de problemas cognitivos caracteriza a ciência e questiona teses tradicionais como a definição da ciência pela busca da verdade, o realismo epistemológico e a impossibilidade de justificar as opções axiológicas. Ao mesmo tempo, Laudan procura evitar o irracionalismo e o relativismo extremo e mostrar o valor permanente de algumas teses "positivistas”.
