Resumo
Neste artigo, desejo discutir alguns problemas da teoria da definição Frege. Começarei caracterizando sua concepção das definições no Begriffsschrift (BS) de 1879. Na segunda parte, ocupar-me-ei da tese de Frege a respeito da fecundidade sistemática das "boas" definições na matemática e na lógica, que ele expõe em “Booles rechnende Logik und die Begriffsschrift” (BRL) de 1880-81 e em Die Grundlagen der Arithmetik (GLA) de 1844. Em sua fase madura, Frege abandonou esta tese. Na parte final, e principal, do artigo, investigarei em detalhe a mudança de opinião que ele experimentou com relação ao propósito e ao valor e ao valor das definições.
