Resumen

The aim of this paper is to show some of the features of a“situated approach” (understood in terms of Situation Theory) to inference, information and knowledge representation. As we know the logical view gives an account of them by means of concepts like “logical form" or "model" and their mutual relations. However, Situation Theory, taken as a General and Qualitative Theory of Information gives us a framework in which we can analyze the relationship between representation schemes and their informational contents, taking as starting point the study of the structure of the informational relations postulated for the explanation of the flow of information. Having introduced the basic concepts of the theory, we seek an application in the field of Representation in Data Bases, in order to eventually improve the limits of the very idea of representation.
