Derive, cartography and intervention: the small town of Regente Feijó-SP and the preservation of the Urban Heritage

Abstract

This article approaches the practice of situationist dérive and the production of psychogeographic cartographies as methodological procedures for the recognition, intervention and preservation of the Urban and Architectural Heritage of Regente Feijó, a small city located in the West of São Paulo State. We reported a teaching experience developed in 2017 with students of the fourth grade of Architecture and Urbanism of Sao Paulo State University (UNESP), in which the possibilities of design intervention occurred simultaneously with the experience of the ambiences and atmospheres of the historical center studied. This approach demonstrated another view to heritage preservation, through the activation and enhances of existing spatial practices and encourages the appearance of new appropriations.
