Abstract
The study that constitutes this research work is based on the theoretical and analytical principles of Discourse Analysis, a linguistic theory of interpretive character that considers the relationship between language, subject and history as inseparable. Therefore, the reflection developed focuses on the production of meanings about the word selfie. We analyze how the digital discourse supports the constitution of this word. Moreover, we problematize how is configured a language memory about the word selfie in the Brasilian enunciation space and we take a stand on critically to the definition formulated in English and Portuguese dictionaries, betting on the different historicities constituted between the gesture of take picture of yourself and the relationship with the word selfie.
