Abstract
The review aims to present the work of the South Korean philosopher, Byung-Chul Han, Infocracy: digitalization and the crisis of democracy. The author argues that the rise of infocracy, a system based on digital information, deteriorates the foundations of democracy. Han advocates that digitalization, through social media, has promoted the fragmentation of public opinion, facilitating the spread of fake news and polarization from what he called digital tribes. Thus, the proliferation of algorithms and the massive collection of data results in a surveillance society that operates by collecting data and information.
