Abstract

It is known by many that the public space, the one that is part of the urban structure of the whole city, involves many aspects and visions of how to be approached; however, one way of conceiving and understanding the public space, that let us approach in a more accurate way the focus of this paper, is the one described by Perahia (2007, p.2) in which he manifested  that “the public space is in the essence of the urban, from ancient to these days is the meeting and exchange space,  that enriches the urban practices and encourages the citizen participation and their interest for the community issues. […]”. Therefore, the present paper focuses on the questions: In which measure would the new public spaces contribute to generate social relationships and interrelationships between the population? In which measure would the morphological physical configuration and the emplacement in the urban structure of a city affect or propitiate so that phenomenon gets inhibited or stimulated? The previous questions gets importance and interest for the development of the present paper depending on how the structuring and organization of the physical space let the accomplishment of the functions that encourages the psychosocial evolution of the human being like: socialize, participate, recreation, culture and spiritual realization.
