Posthumous memories of the premol factory : rescue of industrial heritage technological development of Campina Grande [state of Paraiba, Brazil] (1960-1970)

Abstract

The article deals with the rescue of the industrial heritage of “Premol Indústria e Comércio S.A” factory, focused on the production of precast concrete in the city of Campina Grande, located in the “Agreste” region, in “Serra da Borborema” in Paraíba, northeastern Brazil. The goal is to safeguard the memory and importance of this collection for the understanding of local architectural production, where it was observed the constant use of precast concrete pieces in various works; as well as bring to light in this event this academic contribution, inserting the city of Campina Grande in the discussion of national industrial heritage. The justification of this work takes into consideration that the presence of Premol- factory considered at the time, as one of the largest regional producers of prefabricated elements of the city, state and region, was little explored in articles related to the Brazilian industrial heritage. As a methodology, it is based on a line of investigation proposed by Serra (2006) that works with the relationship between the process and the system that surrounds it.
