Abstract
This article analyses the influence of comparative grammars of semitic language on the study of hebrew in the 19 century. By comparing the works of Gesenius (1817) e Bauer & Leander (1918), the author points out some aspects of this influence in the 19 century, as well as the changes of perspective o occurred under the influence of 20 century Linguistics.
