Abstract
This article presents an analysis of the structure of the lingua geral de mina (general language of mine), spoken in Brazil by the Blacks coming for slave work in gold and Diamond mines at the beginning of the 18 century. The corpus is the only specific documenf about the language, the Obra nova de Lingua Geral de Mina, by Antônio da Costa Peixoto, written in 1741. The analysis, besides allowing to know some general characteristics of the language of mine, shows that it does not have an exotic pattern in comparison to other African languages.
