Abstract
This text rebuilds the trajectory of sociolinguistic theories,
punctuating the way they have treated questions which are dear to them, such as ‘linguistic attitude’, linguistic prejudice, ‘politically correct’, ‘diglossia’, among others. During this trajectory, the author reflects on the relations between speaker and language in the theories approached, as well as on the political gestures present in the research and the linguistic policies sustained by these theories.
