Resumo
Ao conceber a empresa como uma instituição de produção e aprendizado, a abordagem “institucionalista-evolucionária” tem avançado na compreensão das causas e efeitos de seu desempenho como agente da inovação. A partir dessa perspectiva, este artigo faz uma revisão da discussão teórica sobre o papel das empresas na consolidação dos sistemas de inovação, enfatizando a importância do processo de aprendizado como base da acumulação de conhecimentos necessários à promoção de inovações tecnológicas, organizacionais e também institucionais. Nesse sentido, entende-se que a empresa contribui e, ao mesmo tempo, se favorece dos sistemas de inovação, na medida em que o processo de aprendizado é parte inerente da “coevolução das tecnologias físicas e sociais”, propiciando avanços nos níveis micro e mesoeconômicos, o que promove o desenvolvimento econômico.Referências
