Resumen

La economía colaborativa representa una nueva forma de consumo cuya difusión se explica por la creciente ubicuidad de las plataformas y aplicaciones digitales. Este artículo tiene tres objetivos: 1) construir un indicador capaz de medir el ingreso de los países a la economía compartida; 2) caracterizar el ingreso de países en este nuevo modelo de consumo; y, 3) identificar los factores que influyen en su difusión. El análisis de datos descriptivos y seis regresiones de mínimos cuadrados ordinarios se utilizan para identificar los factores que explican la expansión de la economía compartida, medidos mediante la construcción de un Índice de Economía Compartida, basado en 14,9 mil millones de datos de tráfico en los sitios y aplicaciones de intercambio especializadas para 175 países. Las estadísticas descriptivas muestran que la economía colaborativa se está extendiendo principalmente entre los países con mayores ingresos. Las regresiones estimadas indican que el acceso a internet, los derechos de propiedad y la presencia de un entorno sobre regulado son los principales factores que contribuyen al acceso a este nuevo patrón de consumo.
