Abstract
Based on photographs of street demonstrations in Brazil (2011-2015) and according to the theoretical assumptions of the Semantics of the Event (GUIMARÃES, 2005, 2017, 2018), in this article, we describe the performativity of utterances in which the designation of clown occurs. We analyze how (not) being a clown produces the ergative interpretation (not) being made a clown out of when we describe the way the enunciative scenes are configured in the event of such utterances and their relationship with performativity. Thus, it was possible to understand how a negative utterance can function as a warning or a denunciation according to the way the Locutor divides him/herself and projects, from a social place of enunciation, the place of the one to whom that utterance is aimed.
