Also, the Brazilian Journal of Oral Sciences accepts preprint submissions from the following servers: SciELO Preprints, arXiv, bioRxiv, and medRxiv. The journal editors will analyze the acceptance of Preprints from other servers. Preprints are scientific texts ready for submission to a journal that their authors deposit in a public server before or during their submission to a specific journal.

Authors who opt for preprints and subsequent or simultaneous submission to the Brazilian Journal of Oral Sciences may have their manuscripts deposited in a preprint server, such as SciELO Preprints server. It should be informed that the manuscript is deposited at the Preprints server and provide their name and URL at the “Open Science Compliance Form” (a document to the filled out and submitted as a supplementary file to the manuscript). If the manuscript has been deposited as a preprint, the name of the preprint server and the preprint DOI must be provided. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements will be returned to the corresponding author for adaptations. The review and evaluation process of the manuscript's scientific content will only be initiated after meeting all requirements criteria described in the Instructions for authors. Manuscripts following the instructions to authors will be evaluated on their scientific merit and methods by at least two ad hoc referees, from different institutions of that of the authors, besides the Editor-in-Chief. Suppose no consensus about the quality of the manuscript was not found between the reviewers, the manuscript might be sent to another review or Editorial Board. After analysis, a decision is taken. Also, all manuscripts will be submitted to analysis by plagiarism software as part of the evaluation process. When revision of the original is required, the manuscript will be returned to the corresponding author for modification. The authors will re-submitted a revised version with changes, and the Editor-in-Chief and reviewers will re-evaluate that. Blinded Peer-Review is followed for all manuscripts submitted to the Brazilian Journal of Oral Sciences, including preprints.

The adoption of an Open Peer-Review system is used only when authors and reviewers explicitly declare to agree to interact directly with one another. Authors must clarify their options in the “Open Science Compliance Form”. Reviewers must make their choice clear when indicating their availability for reviewing the submission.

Contents of the manuscript are the authors' responsibility and do not reflect the opinion of the Editor-in-Chief or Editorial Board.

GALLERY PROOF

Galley proofs will be sent to the corresponding author by electronic mail in PDF format for final approval. Approval of galley proofs by the corresponding author should be returned with corrections, if necessary, within 48 hours. Corrections in the galley proofs should be restricted to minor mistakes that do not modify the manuscript’s content. If not returned within 48 hours, the Editor-in-Chief will consider the present version the final and not allow further modifications.

The inclusion of new authors is not allowed at this phase of the publication process.

The authors’ sole responsibility is to verify the proper use of their scientific names in the manuscript.

The final version of the approved article will be published with the name of the editor or editors responsible for the manuscript evaluation process.
