Resumo
O texto pretende apresentar brevemente os conteúdos da obra de Abba P. Lerner, com foco em sua abordagem para o problema do desemprego involuntário e em suas propostas para a geração do pleno emprego. Tendo em vista seu alegado alinhamento às construções teóricas de John M. Keynes a respeito dos mesmos temas, será feita uma comparação entre os conceitos e propostas apresentados pelos dois autores, aí apontando seus pontos de convergência e de divergência. Verifica-se que os autores compartilhavam uma orientação profundamente reformista em relação às economias capitalistas, cada um a seu modo propondo um padrão - ainda que decisivo, em ambas as abordagens - para a ação do Estado. A despeito desse aspecto comum, verifica-se que uma série de conteúdos teóricos da obra de Lerner o distanciaram sobremaneira de elementos fundamentais da visão original de Keynes.
