Resumo
Este trabalho examina a geografia da inovação no estado de São Paulo. Seu objetivo é investigar se fatores territoriais, tais como gastos em P&D, transbordamentos de conhecimentos e aglomeração urbana, afetam a inovação no nível regional. Para isso, foram utilizados dados regionalizados da Pesquisa Industrial de Inovação Tecnológica (PINTEC/IBGE) sobre a inovação no nível das microrregiões do estado de São Paulo e adotado um modelo baseado na função de produção do conhecimento aplicado às regiões. Os resultados mostram que os esforços inovativos locais e os transbordamentos de conhecimentos são fatores territoriais que afetam a inovação nas regiões. Além disso, regiões de maior densidade urbana e com estrutura produtiva local mais diversificada apresentam maior crescimento da taxa de inovação. O trabalho apresenta novas evidências empíricas sobre o papel dos fatores locacionais no fomento à inovação no Brasil, por meio da utilização de medidas diretas de insumos inovativos, como gastos em P&D e de resultados da inovação medida pelas empresas inovativas.
