Resumo
Este artigo é uma contribuição à fonologia histórica do Nasa Yuwe, língua presumivelmente isolada do sudoeste da Colômbia. Mostra como uma comparação lexical com dois grupos linguísticos presumivelmente não relacionados pode ajudar a reconstruir uma mudança de *a > e em Nasa Yuwe. Os dois grupos linguísticos comparados aos Nasa Yuwe neste artigo são os Andaqui, também do oeste da Colômbia, e a família Misumalpa da América Central. Embora *a esteja documentado como tal nas formas Andaqui e Misumalpas, os dados analisados neste artigo sugerem que tem mudado para e e vogais relacionadas em Nasa Yuwe.
