Abstract

This text is a critical review of Marco Antonio Rodrigues' work entitled Higher Education as a public good, which highlights the current course of higher education in the world. In this work the author builds a nostalgic critique of today's higher education and its mercantile aspects, recalling the humanist and libertarian concepts contained in the 1918 Cordoba treaty and the 1998 World Conference on Higher Education. Analysis built for the 25th commemoration event AUGM's creation years in September 2016, to which the author was invited to write punctuating projections for the future of higher education as a public good analyzing the positive and negative aspects of the past.
