International models of higher education and the university nowadays

Abstract

Review of the book Modelos Internacionais de Educação Superior: Estados Unidos, França e Alemanha (International Models of Higher Education: United States, France and Germany), by Reginaldo C. Moraes, Maitá de Paula e Silva and Luiza Carnicero de Castro. The book consists of four chapters and approaches, in well-systematized way, models of public and private education in those countries that have a strong impact in structuring higher education not only in Brazilian but also in other Latin American countries. When public higher education is being threatened such as nowadays, the present work gains even more relevancy describing the dynamics of financing, Research and Development and the transmission of the knowledge and its contributions to society.
