The Marx investigative method: contribution to the construction of knowledge

Abstract

This article presents some reflections on the question of the investigative method of Marx and that composes the construction of Marxian social theory. It is tried to demonstrate the complexity of the effort realized by Marx when seeking to know the reality revealing its fundamental determinations considering above all the intellectual movement demanded by the same. In this effort we highlight the categories totality, mediation and contradiction because they are considered fundamental for understanding the method in focus and also for its applicability and consequently apprehension and knowledge of reality. We briefly introduce the approach of Social Work to Marx's ideas, highlighting how these have become fundamental for the professional category. Finally we conclude that Marx's method gives the researcher the possibility of knowing the object in its essence. We seek with this exposition to demonstrate how the angle of analysis of the Marxian method, therefore, in seeking to unveil bourgeois society opens the perspective for its questioning, becoming fundamental to the subjects who envisage the construction of a society different from that of capital.
