Resumo
Left-dislocated constituents(LDs) are generally analyzed as generated in a position higher than IP, either in adjunction to it or as a Spec of some functional head. This paper claims that LD derives from movement of a secondary predicate whose subject is the resumptive pronoun. Subject pronoun doubling is analyzed as a form of LD, the strong pronoun originating in a predicate position. Based on the form of the strong pronoun, the case of the LD constituents is claimed to be the “default” case, which can vary crosslinguistically. The similarities between LDs and CLLDs are atributed to the same secondary predicate origin, and the dissimilarities to the different landing process: Spec in the former and Adjunction in the latter.Referências
