Abstract
This article presents some statistical results concerning the linguistic and non-linguistic factors that seem to account for the Verb-Subject (V S) inversion in Wh- questions in Modern Brazilian Portuguese. The major claim is that V S order is a residual phenomena restricted to very specific contexts. The hypothesis is that the remaining structures with V S order are in fact a case of false inversion.References
