Abstract

The study has as basis the Science of Sport , and from sports psychology focuses on the
thematic programs involving Positive Youth Development (PYD) in the sport , looking not
only contribute to the deepening of knowledge in this area , but also for the promotion of
its application and dissemination , particularly in Portuguese-speaking countries , where it
is still particularly sparse implementation , demonstrating that the PYD centered sport
results in a more active and healthy life that consequently forwards subject to success .
This study is qualitative in nature, constructed from the literature review in journals and
internationally respected authors in this field of knowledge. Finally, the analysis of the
impacts of sport on young people can collaborate effectively to demystification of positives
and negatives that are sometimes attributed to sports figures.
