Abstract

The General Gymnastics has in choreographic compositions o of the best way to socialize
the knowledge. This production is presented in festival, in general, that possibly the
meeting of different groups and gymnastics disciplines, further to motivate and to democratize this practice in national or international level. The objective of this study is to
present the Japan National Gymnastics Festival, held on November 2013 in Tokyo, as well
discuss the choreographies presented in the first day of this event. As results, we observe
the participation of 140 groups, 5.500 gymnasts and approximately 4.000 spectators. All
interested groups can take part of the event and there isn’t evaluation, although the
participation in this festival is condition to integrate the Japanese delegation in
international events like the World Gymnaestrada. The majority of participants were
women and the group age predominant was children and adults. Only choreography used
big material (German wheel), prevailing free hands or portable materials (ribbons,
pompons, dumbbells or wooden bats). A significate number of choreographies were based
in callisthenic and fitness movements adapted for a group performance.
