Abstract

The present study aimed to describe time and motion parameters in Mixed Martial Arts
(MMA) matches, and compare them according to gender. The sample consisted of 64
performances (32 per gender) and different temporal variables were analyzed were. To
compare groups and to analyze the interaction with the result was usedco-variance
analysis. The results showed a effort ratio high:low intensity of 2:1 and gender differences
in the total time of low intensity in standing (04: 19.7 ± 03: 19,5 min for men and 06: 55.6
±. 04: 47,7 min for women, p <0.05), high intensity in the ground (01:14,6±01:16,4 in the
male 00: 40.8 ± 01: 09, 1 in females, p <0.05) and frequency of attacks, with 47 (±22,83)
in the men and 21 (±15,11) in the female, and attacks on the head, with 31 (±18,51) for
men and 15 (±6,28) for women. We conclude that there are differences in temporality in MMA matches according genres, with women developing longer time at low intensity
standing, however, with lower time for high intensity standing and on the ground efforts.
These results contribute in the planning of more specific training for MMA.
