Resumen

Objetivo: examinar la manera como los atletas de élite del deporte adaptado aplican técnicas psicológicas (es decir, establecimiento de objetivos, imágenes, diálogo interno y relajación) en situaciones de entrenamiento y competición. Metodología: Catorce atletas con discapacidad motora y visual respondieron a una entrevista semiestructurada. Se utilizó un enfoque cualitativo basado en el análisis temático para el análisis de datos. Resultados y discusión: Con la excepción de las técnicas de relajación, los atletas reconocieron la importancia de las técnicas psicológicas para su rendimiento deportivo. Hubo un mayor uso de técnicas en una situación competitiva. Conclusión: Los datos también mostraron que los atletas no conocen todos los beneficios inherentes a la aplicación de técnicas psicológicas y no están familiarizados con sus formas de entrenamiento.
