Resumen

Objetivo: Este estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar las percepciones de jóvenes deportistas que practican deportes sobre la motivación y el desarrollo de habilidades para la vida a través del deporte, según sexo, tipo de deporte y tiempo de práctica. Metodología: 108 jóvenes participaron en esta investigación, siendo practicantes de deportes de equipo (n=59) e individuales (n=49), de ambos sexos (63 chicos y 45 chicas). Con una edad media de 14,72 ± 0,47 años y tiempo de práctica de 5,30 ± 2,58 años. Los instrumentos utilizados fueron la Escala de Habilidades para la Vida para el Deporte (P-LSSS), Escala de Motivación para el Deporte II (SMS-II). El análisis de los datos se realizó mediante las pruebas de Kolmogorov-Smirnov, se utilizó la prueba de la “U” de Mann-Whitney (p<0,05). Resultados y discusión: Los resultados mostraron que los niños tienen mayores niveles de desmotivación en comparación con las niñas (p=0,028). En cuanto al tipo de deporte, los jóvenes de deportes individuales tienen puntuaciones más altas para la regulación identificada (p=0,015). Mientras que los deportistas jóvenes con mayor tiempo de práctica tienen una mayor percepción del desarrollo del trabajo en equipo (p=0,048), establecimiento de metas (p=0,014), control del tiempo (p=0,006) y comunicación (p=0,009). Conclusión: Se concluyó que, con base en las percepciones de los jóvenes atletas, el género y el tipo de deporte pueden ser factores que intervienen en la motivación y el tiempo de práctica en el desarrollo de habilidades para la vida.
