Resumo

O presente ensaio identifica um amadurecimento da perspectiva subjetivista nos escritos de Ludwig Lachmann em termos de “passos em direção à aplicação consistente do subjetivismo”. A dupla influência da tradição interpretativa de Max Weber e do subjetivismo de Carl Menger sobre a formação acadêmica de Lachmann, posteriormente reforçada pela influência do economista George Shackle sobre ele, é importante para identificar a fonte da posição peculiar que o autor viria a assumir dentro da tradição Austríaca com o passar do tempo. Tanto sua teoria do capital, mais centrada no problema das expectativas divergentes no início de sua carreira, quanto seus ensaios sobre metodologia, que problematizam a separação rígida entre teoria e história, refletem sua longa trajetória em defesa do subjetivismo.
