Translations, collections and elaboration of didactic material in an indigenous context

Abstract

Taking the Tikuna people and their language as reference, this article focuses on three significant areas in the production of meaning: translations, collections, and preparation of teaching materials in an indigenous context. The chosen focus is based on the concern with approximation, through meaning, of one 'other', whose representation references are different from those of the analyst, and whose mother tongue has surface characteristics which are further apart from those the analyst systematically uses first as part of his own linguistic universe. The article attempts to provide a response to the issue of approximation of meaning, drawing attention to the articulation of the linguistic dimension with other dimensions permeated by meaning.
