Abstract

An important document for assessing the conservation status of the built cultural heritage is the Damage Map, whose function is to present in a synthetic and precise way the information related to the anomalies identified in these buildings and their corrective actions. However, this document is usually produced in two-dimensional representation systems, which do not favor a consistent structuring of this information or interoperability. The Historic Building Information Modeling (HBIM) offers new possibilities for registering damage since all documentation could be associated with a database and updated throughout the historic buildings life cycle. Therefore, this research has the main objective to present the qualitative results of a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), developed to identify the state-of-the-art that correlates the HBIM and Built Heritage Damage Documentation concepts. The research was developed on six steps: (1) Question Definition, (2) Research Strategy, (3) Search and Eligibility, (4) Quality Assessment, (5) Synthesis of Results and (6) Study Presentation. Different purposes were found for diagnostic documentation using the HBIM methodology, such as structural assessment and restoration and conservation works management. However, difficulties in interoperability between the tools were highlighted, which need to be improved to enable the communication and information management related to the Built Cultural Heritage.
