Resumo

O objetivo deste artigo é o de discutir os métodos da Arqueologia Comunitária. Antes, porém, argumenta-se que a Arqueologia comunitária, como uma das vertentes da pesquisa arqueológica mundial, quase sempre se insere em meio aos conflitos sociais. Em primeiro lugar, porque ela não pode furtar-se de um legado duradouro: as relações históricas que a Arqueologia manteve com o nacionalismo e o colonialismo. Em segundo lugar, porque ela, para firmar-se como gênero de pesquisa, deve enfrentar as ambivalências das políticas de representação do patrimônio cultural.
