Abstract

In the present paper, the thought-provoking short film “Os Sapatos de Aristeu”, by René Guerra, was the starting point for the promotion of a debate on how the notion of corporeality has been tackled by Archaeology, with a special emphasis on Amazonian Archaeology. We discuss how much the field has taken into account Gender and Queertheories and which theoretical frameworks have been used for their study. Based on that, we point out some potential directions for QueerTheory in the field, highlighting how it resonates with the Amazonian material and emphasizing the role of Queerpositionality as more than a so-called theoretical apparatus that is already established.
