Abstract

This research intends to present results of a survey that tried to verify the assignments that students gave the course of Language and Literature regarding to the issue of his literary literacy, that is characterized (or not) as literacy agency. The approach chosen is qualitative; the research had the methodological procedures of a questionnaire survey and a semistructured interview. Among the 45 students who answered the questionnaire, four from the first year and four from the last were selected for the interview. Underlie this research, especially Cosson (2012) and Paulino’s (2010) writings. The main results highlight the perception that the course did not contribute to the introduction to literature universe, but for its refinement and expansion of the repertoire. It also contributed to the decision (or not) for teaching. With regard to the development of reading literature, there are explicit indications of actions of teachers in particular, though not widespread.
